Terrific!
Although this is no thriller, per se, the charactors are well developed, and the climactic boxing sequences are genuinely exciting. Hitchcock's changes in subjective point of view are of particular interest. Excellent and entertaining film. The only drawback is the lack of any sort of musical accompaniment; consequently, I played a recording of Gershwin's piano rolls, and those rhythms were well suited to the overall rhythm of the picture. I wish Hitchcock had made at least one other boxing film -- this one is terrific!

about Boxing Films of the 20th century he stated,
The Ring, eventhough made doing th silent era, was the most realistic film of boxing until the 1970's."
